Sopwith

A biplane, a row of targets, and a sky full of trouble.

▶ Play Sopwith free, in your browser, nothing to install

Sopwith (David L. Clark / BMB Compuscience, 1984; SDL port 2.9.0) is the classic side-scrolling biplane game: fly over the trenches, strafe and bomb the enemy bases, dodge the ground fire and fly home to refuel and rearm.

This port keeps the original 320x200 four-colour screen, 10 Hz flight model, ASCII sprites and bitmap font, all seven original .sop missions, the computer pilot, the medals and ribbons, and the status bar and minimap.

Single player novice/expert, single player versus the computer, local two-player on one keyboard (a browser extra) and two-player online through this website's rooms; the host chooses the mission, both clients run the same lockstep simulation.
